Robert Gardner II
Title: Wellness Guru
Gender: Male
Location: Austin, TX
About Me:
Zaadz looks like just the right place for me: I'm an experienced yoga teacher, licensed bodyworker, self-taught chef and food coach, and I'm definitely going through my own world-changing process.
I'm a former philosophy student with a focus in existentialism and ethics. I was involved in a car accident in 1999 that left me with severe whiplash and tmj dysfunction that crippled me for a time. All that I offer as regards healing services are things that I've used to help give me my health back. As a bodyworker I primarily focus on Thai massage and cranial-sacral therapy.
As a yoga instructor I complement my own bodywork by offering private yoga classes for clients. These classes are geared towards the individual and one does not have to be in great shape or an athlete to do yoga. Classes consist of basic Hatha yoga poses, breathing exercises and beginning body awareness and meditation.
I take care of myself by doing regular Hatha yoga that's influenced by BKS Iyengar and the hot yoga style of Bikram Choudhury. My practice has a strong focus on alignment, breath and meditation.
I've worked as a cook over the years and am a firm believer in slow foods, whole foods and when financially feasible, organics. I cook regularly, watch the food network like some men watch football and also provide meals or cooking classes to clients who are looking to supplement their diet and learn basic cooking skills.
For spiritual inspiration I enjoy buddhism, yoga and teachers like Martin Luther King Jr., Thich Nhat Hahn, Lama Surya Das, Krishnamurti and the Dalai Lama. As a counterbalance I enjoy standup comedy and have done open mic at comedy clubs. I enjoy the work of George Carlin, Margaret Cho, Patton Oswalt, Chris Rock, Bill Hicks, Doug Stanhope and Lewis Black.
I'm open to clients of all genders and sexualities. As someone who is GLBT friendly I find it important to let clients know they are safe being themselves when they see me as a therapist.
Thank you for taking the time to read about me!
